Buying Fish and Seafood Online

Why buy Fish Online?

It seems an unusual idea to buy fish online. I mean can you imagine a fillet of Plaice flopping through your letterbox in the morning!!!

Of course, it doesn’t actually work like that and like with other online grocery delivery services, the fish will be delivered direct to your door, usually within a few hours of catch.

But why should you bother to buy fish online when you can but it at your local supermarket? Well, you may be lucky enough to live near the coast and have a ready supply of fresh and varied fish and shellfish but if you don’t you will probably be restricted to the usual choices of salmon, cod and haddock. Also, often supermarket fish will have been previously frozen whereas fish bought from a reputable online dealer should be very fresh, which is when fish is at its best.

Fish Recipes

Whilst these species of fish are delicious, there is a much wider variety of fish out there and with the shortage of stock of some fish, shouldn’t we be looking to at least try some of the more unusual species such as mullet, gurnard and eel. . In most cases, these fish can simply replace another fish in a recipe although some may be more suited to specialised recipes.
Of course if you are lucky enough to have been given a cookbook by Rick Steinor Jamie Oliver, you will no doubt have come across recipesusing fish you won’t find in your local supermarket.

And of course, a diet high in fish is very healthy providing protein and other minerals and especially Omega 3. But the best reason for eating more fish of course is that it tastes great.

So why not have a look into buying fish online and try some different species .. you never know, you may get a pleasant surprise..
