Adobe Acrobat Pro X is a program that allows you to create, edit and share PDF files. I have been using Adobe Acrobat for years. I use Acrobat for very basic scanning, editing and PDF sharing functions. I am not an Adobe Pro X professional but I did recently manage to troubleshoot an issue I had with Pro X software.
I was experiencing a problem where I getting blank PDF pages inserted between my scanned PDF pages. For every page I scanned, Adobe would automatically create two PDF pages. One page with the data, text, images, info etc. on it, the other page would be blank. If I ran 4 pages through the scanner, I would get eight pages. Four pdf pages with nothing on it and the other four with print on it.
At first I thought I was going nuts. What could I be doing wrong? By accident I scanned a two sided document through the scanner and, to my surprise, both sides of the page (blank and printed) were converted into two PDF pages. In prior versions I don’t remember Adobe doing this by default. In the past, using versions prior to Adobe Pro X I would have to scan one side of the document, then click the ‘next’ button, then scan the other. Of course, I could have set up the Adobe default to do both sides at once, but I’m not always the brightest of guys.
So, anyway, why does Adobe Acrobat Pro X automatically insert blank PDF pages in between PDF’s with print ? I think the answer is that by default, Pro X is set up to scan ‘two-sided’ By default, adobe converts the side of the page with print on it, then it automatically converts the blank, opposite side of the page to a PDF.
So, to stop the blank pages from appearing all you have to do is set up the program to just scan one-side right? I hate to break it to you but it is not that easy. That is part of the solution but it is not the entire solution. I wrote an article on how to stop those empty PDF’s from appearing. Check it out.
