I still call my fax software RightFax though I admit, the name has probably changed. I’ve heard Rightfax referred to as Captaris and Open Text. Regardless, coming from the days of using desktop faxes (ie fax machines and ‘dummy’ faxes) exclusively, fax software is very convenient, versatile and easy to use. I wrote a nostalgic, melancholy article comparing the old dummy fax and RightFax software. If you’d like to read it, I’ve linked it here
Kidding, the post I linked is neither sad or filled with nostalgia, but please read it anyway if you’d like :-)
Anyway, viewing fax history on Open Text / Captaris / RightFax is easy to do. Just follow these steps
Step 1
Look down at your task bar. If you task bar is set up like mine you should see an icon of a fax machine. Click on it.
If there is not icon, open your ‘start’ menu, click “All Programs” then click “Captaris” or whichever name RightFax, Open Text blah blah
Step 2
“Util” look for this word. It might just say “Util” or “Rightfax Util” or, etc… you get the idea. Click on “Util”
Step 3
The fax utility window will appear on your computer screen. From here you will see the history of the faxes sent and received. You can open any of the faxes simply by double clicking on the fax your want to look at.
You can also click on the phone book at the top of the page and edit or add new numbers to make managing your fax contact list easier.
I hope this helped you view your fax history on Open Text / Captaris / RightFax. If you get a chance, please check out some of the other posts I have done on Excerptz. Does your boss ever have you fax risk assessment reports? I wrote an article about Dunn and Bradstreet and how it can mitigate problems with your business associates and linked it here
