Increase Productivity with a Large LED Monitor

Do you work on a computer all day long like I do? If so, then you know that getting the most out of what you do every day is important. Studies done back in 2006 by Apple computer show that users can perform computer tasks up to 50% faster on a large screen as compared to a 18-20 inch screen. Studies done more recently show that this productivity continues to increase sharply up until around 24 inches, where the productivity increase begins to slow.

What is an LED monitor?

An LED monitor is in fact, a liquid crystal display or LCD monitor. The difference between it and other CCFL monitors has to do with the backlighting. Standard CCFL monitors use fluorescent lighting and emit mercury. LED or light emitting diode backlighting is both more energy efficient and environmentally conscious as it does not emit mercury. In this post on LED monitor reviews, the author gives a review of today’s top rated computer monitors, and also a guide to what you should look for in a LED computer monitor. Highlighted in this post and the guide are the studies I mentioned above about monitor productivity.

Is it worth it to get a bigger monitor?

Considering that a 24 inch computer monitor costs only $50-75 more than a 18-20 inch computer monitor is it worth it to upgrade? It really all depends on how much you work on a computer and what tasks you do. Those who work on spreadsheets and documents will find the cost more than worth the price. The average time savings for most is around 1.5 hours a week. Those who work on the computer more will certainly save more time. Even if you’re one of the average people who uses a computer, that’s a savings of at least 67.6 hours per year. I’d love to know what monitor you use and what you think on the subject.
