Who Is Rani Mukherjee?

Rani Mukherjee is a female Indian actress who works primarily in Hindi films, the 33 year old has won numerous awards including six Filmfare awards from 12 nominations. Mukherjee, who was born in Mumbai, has been active since 1997 and has also gone by the names ‘Rani Mukherji’ and ‘Rani Mukerjee’.

Mukherjee’s breakthrough came in 2000/01 when she starred in Badal, an action drama, which proved to be one of the highest grossing Indian films of 2000 despite receiving negative reviews, it was to be another couple of years before Rani Mukherjee would become a household name, in 2002 she starred in the film Mujhse Dosti Karoge! which didn’t far very well in India but did very well overseas.

Mukherjee starred in many films from 2002-2006 before a career slump between 2007-2010, her career is back on track after she starred in the 2011 film No One Killed Jessica, a Bollywood film which grossed $7.1 million having cost $1.83 million to produce. Mukherjee received positive reviews for that film, as indeed did the film in general. Mukherjee owns three homes in Mumbai and a home in Jume.

She has courted controversy on a number of occasions, she was criticized in 2006 for making no effort to stop her security team from beating fans in full view of her, and in a British newspaper interview she claimed that her idol was Adolf Hitler, something which she later denied ever having said.
