Where Do I Find IP Cisco Phone Serial Number and Model

There could come a time when you need to locate your IP Cisco Phone model number or your IP Cisco phone serial number.  Maybe you need support or have product questions? Maybe you are looking to upgrade to a newer model phone? Regardless of the reason you need these codes, you can find them right on the electronic display screen of your phone.

The reviews are in and I believe that  this phone is pretty easy to use.  The use of features and commands are, for the most part, pretty self explanatory.  Finding serial number and / or model is easy to do but since most of us don’t look this up very often, I hope to give you a little help.

Find Out Which Model It Is

Let’s start with the easiest which is how to find the model number.  The model number is all over the place. You can find it on the back of the phone for sure, but that is not the easiest way. You’ll have to lift the phone up wires and all and twist it around to look at the back.  A really easy way  is to find the printed model number right on the front of the phone.  On my phone, the Cisco IP Phone 7940, it’s in the upper right corner.

Be aware though that this is not necessarily the whole number. The serial number printed on the front might be truncated.

How Do You Find The Whole Number? Easy, simply:

1. Press “Settings” button in  lower-middle right side of phone

2. Then either scroll down with arrow to “Model Information” and press “Select Button”  OR Just press the number next to “Model Information”

3.  Your model number will be on the display screen.

Follow these steps

1. Press “Settings” button in  lower-middle right side of phone

2. Then choose “Model Information” like you did in the above step.

3. Then scroll down the serial number.
